This makes Hungarians the 16th biggest immigrant group. The most impressive growth came from Romanian immigrants, whose number had tripled since 2014 (when Romanians received the right to work in the EU), catapulting them to the second place on the list.
The most popular emigration target for Hungarians is Germany, followed by Austria and the UK. Hungarians send more remittances home than any other country in the EU.
