Talking of being a salary man with no savings.
Orbán regularly submits asset declarations without any wealth or savings on it.
Last week he even had the poor judgment to call himself a salary man who has never and would never draw income from capital. He had even claimed that he was personally hurt by the economic hardship brought upon by Covid lockdowns.
His cynicism usually goes uncontested, we only make jokes about it and the joke party organized crowdfunding for him in case a member of his large family would ever need dental works.
But this year he managed to time his mindless cynicism in earnings season (when we can watch helplessly as his crony class is taking billions in profits out of their “businesses”) so one journalist rose to the occasion and summarized the official and visible revenues the Orbán-clan drew from their proximity to the government in the last seven years.
The sum is 15 billion forints or 50 millon euros. Again, this is just what is visible and officially available. Companies and bank accounts in other countries are not visible to us, nor is the wealth of front men added to the equation.
For the details and the breakdown, you can Gtranslate these two articles:
The Orbán-family made 15 billion in seven years – and not from wages and salaries
How the Orbán-family became billionaires – on one chart
And the sick thing is? He is now outsourcing the last of state assets into foundations he controls and even made a law that companies can start paying into those foundations and write 300% of the money off their state taxes.
I think I made the wrong life choices. It is time to become a salary man.
“even made a law that companies can start paying into those foundations and write 300% of the money off their state taxes.”
Is the percentage a typo? If not could you please be kind enough to explain how this works/ is notionally justified?

Unfortunately, no. The 2022 tax bill includes a line that companies can pay into Orbán’s new asset management foundations (where he outsources state assets at breathtaking speed) and they will receive 300% of the amount donated to these foundations as tax credit. https://telex.hu/gazdasag/2021/06/03/300-szazalekos-adokedvezmenyt-kapnanak-azok-a-ner-alapitvanyok-amelyekbe-ezermilliardnyi-kozvagyont-szerveztek-ki We can actually start paying taxes to Orbán’s foundations and the state will reimburse us for it.

As of the justification, I am not aware of any. The entire asset management foundation scam is completely unjustified. They have shed the last bit of pretense as to their motivations. Orbánist politicians could only comment that they hope the opposition would treat them (the foundations) with rule of law abiding methods if the get into power.
